The Indian government has extended the deadline for linking PAN card with Aadhaar to June 30, 2023, from the previous deadline of March 31, 2023.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has taken this step to provide taxpayers with additional time to complete the process. Failing to link PAN with Aadhaar would have rendered the PAN card inoperative, according to the income tax department.
Earlier, the Aadhaar-PAN linking process was free, but a fee of Rs 500 was imposed from April 1, 2022, and then increased to Rs 1,000 from July 1, 2022.
